Music has been a part of Yongyu’s life from a very early age. When she was 4, she started learning to play the accordion. This gave her a strong musical foundation when she started learning piano at the age of 10. In 2005, Yongyu won 1st place in the Beijing National Accordion Competition and 3rd place in the Beijing National Piano Competition. After this experience, she decided to focus on piano, and in 2009 Yongyu graduated with a BA in South China University in Music Education with an emphasis in piano performance. After she moved to the United States, she volunteered to play for the Inna Opera Group at the Community Music Center in San Francisco. Yongyu continued her study in piano performance in San Jose State University as a Walker Scholar and earned her Master’s degree in 2013. She is currently a piano accompanist for the Burlingame School District and an active performer at the other music gigs and events in the Bay Area.
Classes are available in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin.
