BIO

Miranda is a graduate of the Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University, where she obtained her Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance. During her time there, she studied with Dr. Craig Nies as a Cornelius Vanderbilt Scholar. Miranda began her musical endeavors on piano at age six and on flute at age ten. A multifaceted musician, Miranda has participated in the International Holland Music Sessions, won prestigious competitions, qualified for honor bands, and toured in Spain with her youth orchestra. During her tenure at Blair, she was also actively involved in collaborative piano work and was among the most sought-after student pianists. In 2018, she won the Vanderbilt Concerto Competition and made her solo orchestral debut playing the first movement of Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major. The same year, her piano quintet received first place in the MTNA National Chamber Music Competition.

Miranda has many years of experience teaching kindergarten-aged through adult piano students. While a student at Blair School of Music, she received training in Piano Pedagogy and began teaching private piano lessons. Miranda is well-liked by her students and has been described as patient, kind, and fun. After relocating back to the Bay Area, Miranda has continued to teach privately. Besides teaching piano, Miranda has also helped students successfully prepare for the Certificate of Merit (CM) and AP Music Theory exams.

TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

My mission is to teach piano in a fun and engaging manner while gently tapping into the student’s potential to help maximize efficient learning. Realizing one size does not fit all, I customize my lessons to meet the unique needs of each student. I emphasize both discipline and enjoyment to help my students achieve a balance between making progress and having fun. Ultimately, I hope to promote a lifelong love of music for all my students.
