Brian is a graduate of Berklee School of Music (1998, B.M., Magna Cum Laude), and has been playing guitar since 1987. He teaches Classical, Jazz, Latin and Contemporary styles (both pick style and fingerstyle), and has been teaching professionally since 1998.

Brian has published articles in Acoustic Guitar magazine, taught at The JazzSchool and the South Bay Guitar Society’s annual festivals, and is a co-founder of StrumSchool.com, a website currently being developed that offers free beginning instruction for guitar online. He frequently performs throughout CA with such groups as Grupo Falso Baiano, Quijeremá, Jorge Alabê and Samba Rio among others, performing at such venues as Yoshi’s, San Jose Jazz Festival, Yerba Buena, Healdsburg Jazz Festival, Los Angels County Museum and others.

Brian's approach to teaching focuses on a fun and positive environment, mixing fundamentals of technique and musicianship with the study of songs that students participate in choosing as a way of demonstrating key musical ideas while putting the music in a context that students best relate to.
